Just the Rules

The purpose of MSRL is to provide a forum for enjoyable and competitive online racing for mature driver's. Accountability for courtesy and civility on the track as well as league wide email is stressed. We demand that these two basic's be followed in all MSRL regular season or MSRL practice races. It's not fun being penalized nor is it fun for us to hand out penalties. We are here to race and have fun in a league format for gentlemen 35 and over.  This is a league for intermediate drivers who do this for fun only. If your a five night a week racer looking for a hard core league to run in, sorry you came to the wrong place as this is not the type of league your looking for!

When joining The Men's Senior Racing League. The league makes a commitment to you in providing you with a high quality server. A full up to date league web site and a professionally run league. Your commitment to us is, we expect you to make a high percentage of the races in the series that you signed up for. Anything less from you is not acceptable. If after your 3rd race, you decide to make the MSRL your home, we kindly ask for you to contribute $4.00 per month per driver for our no lag, no warp quality server which includes TeamSpeak. You will also have 24/7 access to the server and TeamSpeak for practice and races of your choice other than on league nights. The more drivers we can get to join the league, the less this will cost per driver. We appreciate your support.
This league exhibits drivers' pictures to help personalize our racing. Screen names must be your real name. We don't allow alias or fictitious names. Example would be Bob Smith. Upon acceptance into the league you are required to email a fairly recent jpeg format picture of yourself to Ron@TheMSRL.com. We ask this to be done within 1 1/2 weeks of acceptance.
A. We are currently using the Stock Car Evolution mod v2010. We run a Fixed setup Cup series using the COT cars and a Fixed setup truck series with the Camping World Truck series mod . We run a split season in both divisions. There will be a 1st and 2nd half semi champion. The overall Championship for both series will be any driver who accumulates the most combined points in both the 1st and 2nd half.
1. All races are scored as per the current Nascar point system.
2. Races are monitored by in race, board of director members.
3. All racing series will run with a moderate damage percentage. This is subject to change at anytime by the directors.
4. Provisional Points: If you can't make a  race or races. You must notify the league Admin via email anytime before and no later than 9:00 pm (time stamp that appears on your email) eastern time on race night. Provisional points are 20 points less than the last place car.
B.  New Member Applications:

Each new application will judged differently depending on the amount of online experience you have. Every new applicant will be on a three (3) race probation period. It is mandatory you take a provisional start in your first three (3) race's. Coming from the back and having a good finish will do nothing more than put the spotlight on yourself and prove to us that you belong in this league.
C. On track rules during a race:
UPDATE: 2/18/09 Until Futher Notice
- Anyone causing 3 cautions in a race must park it for the evening unless instructed other wise. Failure to do so will result in ejection from the server and zero points for the race.
1. Start of a Race: There is absolutely no passing the car directly in front of you for any reason until you pass the S/F line. All other restarts there will be no passing until the backstretch with the only exceptions being a car or cars getting loose or spinning or by permission from the driver in front of you. Big Track rules on this subject are down below in Rule #F.
2. It is every drivers responsibility to keep up  with the driver directly in front of him on all starts and restarts. This is extremely crucial on the start of each race. If you are slow to accelerate on the double file start, the other line of cars do not have to slow down and wait for you. This is your bad.
3. On all starts, falling or lagging back from the car/s in front of you and then accelerating before anyone else, can only be viewed as cheating. This is not only dangerous to the cars in front of you, but your also gaining an unfair advantage on the rest of the field. This will not be tolerated. Stay within .05 to .75 seconds back, 2 car lengths would be the max! Continued abuse of this rule will get you a suspension and probation.
4. The pole sitter or lead car must stay within 2 or 3 car lengths of the pace car at pace speed and will not accelerate until the spotter say's the green flag is out. These starts will be monitored closely because jumping the start is strictly frowned upon.
5. There is absolutely NO Racing back to the line under yellow flag !!!
6. Entering the pits is patrolled by the game for the most part, so pay attention to the top left of your screen. This league does use the access roads for pitting at certain tracks that have them. You will be informed about using the access road either in the drivers meeting or pre-race chat on Team Speak. The tracks where we use access roads, ALL pitting must be done using that road, no exceptions. Failure to do so will result in an immediate one lap penalty.
    a. Entering back onto the track during green flag pit stops will be done by blending back in on the backstretch and no where else. If you get caught violating this rule, you will be stripped of your finishing position and credited with last place. Some tracks have very slippery aprons and in some cases you'll be allowed to enter the track in turn one. The admin will inform everyone during practice.
7. Slower cars or cars that are lap/s down or damaged cars, MUST be courteous to drivers on the lead lap. This means yielding the lower line at all times unless you are racing for position under green flag. On restarts you must stay in the lower lane and allow the faster cars to safely pass you high. You should have your real time intervals loaded at all times. This will show who's behind you, who's in front of you and the real time intervals between the cars.
8. If a car or cars are quickly closing in on you, do the right thing and get out of the way, it's called respect for your fellow league members.
9. On restarts with 10 or less laps to go, all lap cars must pit and fall in at the back of the field.
10. Protecting your position will only be allowed when 5 or less laps are left. It must be done in a safe manor.
11. Intentional blocking will not be tolerated and offenders will be penalized. We have heard all the excuses why someone doesn't move over and frankly none of them play here. If you can't be a gentlemen and move over within a few laps after someone has caught you from 2,3, 4 seconds back. Then maybe you should look for another league. If you refuse to move after a few laps and you get physically moved, don't bother sending a complaint. If you can't be a gentlemen, you don't belong on this league. Watch your your mirror. Playing dumb is no excuse.
  a. On the other hand, short track racing is another animal and you must race accordingly. You can't expect someone to move over the second you get on his bumper. A lot of times you'll catch someone in a hurry because of the cars in front of him. In a case where he is just slower, give him a chance to position himself to let you pass. No need to beat and bang on someone, use TeamSpeak like it's supposed to be used. He'll let you pass.
12. Bump drafting is allowed at the Super Speedway tracks, but it is to be done safely and not in the corners. There will be no bump drafting at tracks 1 1/2 miles or smaller. Passing on the apron will be determined by track.
13. Repeated over aggressive driving is strongly frowned upon and will be dealt with by the board.
14. If you are being told by several drivers that you are warping, get out of the racing line for a few laps and see if it clears up. If the warping complaints continue, pull your car into the pits and park it. Causing accidents after repeatedly being told that you show considerable warp will get you penalized.
15. To keep the fun factor alive, we will throw competition yellows normally at the half way point to tighten up the field. We would rather do this, than have a driver leave the race because he was hopelessly to far behind. This keeps the fun factor alive.
16.
If an incident occurs and several cars spin and the game doesn't throw the yellow. Then advise the admin and he will throw a yellow.
17. A driver who self spins or hits the wall by himself and doesn't involve others and no yellow comes out, will not  be afforded an admin induced yellow.
18. The driver who causes a yellow flag, must restart at the end of the longest line. This is a gentlemen's league and for the most part you know if you caused the yellow or in other words, man up.
19.
We will clear black flags if a driver informs us it was bogus. This is done on an honor system as we all trust and respect each other to not abuse this privilege. This is a league for respectful gentlemen, nothing more needs to be said. If it's found your BF was not bogus, you will receive a 2 lap penalty. If taking away 2 laps doesn't effect the final race points, then 10 points will be taken away from said driver.
20. Lucky Dog rule is now controlled by the game. Other laps may be given back with the approval of all the other drivers in the race.
D. In Race Team Speak Chat:
1. There is to be minimal chat under green flag racing!!
2. There is to be absolutely no chatting during qualifying!!
3. Anyone posting  or using derogatory or threatening language questioning the integrity of another driver will be EJECTED
immediately from the race with out warning, no questions asked, poof your gone. You will receive ZERO points for
the race, a 3 race probation and you will be forced to take a provisional start in the next race!!
4. If someone flames you in private text chat. Report it to an admin ASAP.
E.  Racing at Talladega, Daytona, California and Michigan:
Racing etiquette at these tracks is as follows:  Don't make last second dive's into the corners when attempting a pass. Passing on the apron is strictly prohibited. The mandatory line going down the backstretch is up against the
wall unless you are passing the car in front of you. Running in the middle of the backstretch or lower when not passing is considered blocking and offender/s will be penalized 5 points per incident or each lap. If you are being passed in the corner. Do not pinch the other car down in the lower lane. Your going to be passed anyway and if either cars spins because you didn't give the proper room, it's your fault. Protecting your position with 3 or less laps to go will be allowed if done safely.
Update -02/12/09. Until further notice at these tracks only, we will allow the game to control the start and restarts as far as where and when you can pass. Causing a caution on a restart before exiting turn one may result in a penalty. At these tracks, if your are starting in 3rd gear on restarts, you must stay in the lower lane as a courtesy to your fellow members who are using 2nd gear. Also damage at these tracks will be set to 10%.
F. Restarting a points race will only happen under the following exceptions:
1. If a caution occurs within the first 3 to 5 laps and car/s get heavily damaged. One restart will be granted.
2. If excessive warping jeopardizes the outcome of the race.
3. These exceptions will be the call of the league director or a board member.
4. If the race is RED FLAGGED, someone on the board will advise everyone on what to do. Please park your car and wait until a decision is made. (Who is batman's side kick)
G. Complaint structure for official complaints:
1. We encourage drivers to handle on track disputes in courteous and constructive email between themselves before filing a complaint.
2. Official complaints can be emailed to: Complaint@TheMSRL.com
3. Official race complaints will be a detailed explanation accompanied with a replay clip showing the incident. DO NOT send one without the other. All official complaints, must be turned in within 48 hours after the race. Official complaints will be reviewed by the league board of directors. Involved board members will not take part in the review process.
H. League wide derogatory emails will not be tolerated and will be dealt with harshly and this means zero tolerance If you have a beef with another driver, I strongly advise that you settled it privately between the two you and the quicker the better. If you can't, then you can ask The board of directors to decide and you give up your right to debate any further as our decision will be final.
